Summer is here, but given the rollercoaster we have all been riding, you’re forgiven if you’re not totally on your A-game — especially when it comes to your beauty and fitness regime. Try these easy five ways to get back on track to your fabulous self.
Did you know only 9% of Americans eat enough vegetables each day? It’s tempting to reach for coffee to get you moving in the morning, but a better option that will elevate your health, energy levels, and get your skin glowing is to whip up a smoothie instead. This baby is delicious and will instantly boost your veggie intake.
Energizing Kale and Pineapple Smoothie (Recipe: Nourish Move Love)
Blend these ingredients, along with Cleo’s ENERGY drink mix, infused with vitamins B12 and C, folic acid, calcium, and magnesium, for an extra boost.
- ¼ cup pineapple, frozen
- 1 cup kale (approx. 2 large kale leaves), de-stemmed
- 1 tbsp coconut oil or coconut butter
- ½ avocado or banana
- 1 cup water or coconut water (or oat/almond milk)
This easy workout is big on impact when it comes to toning your lower core, glutes, and inner thighs. Stand with your feet hip-width apart, engage your glutes, bend your knees, and lower yourself as if you were going to sit in a chair. Stop at four inches. Use your glutes to return to standing, keeping your core tight. Repeat eight times.
Pro tip: Make sure your knees are not bent too far forward. They should be directly above your ankles.
Your complexion needs more TLC in summer to prevent the drying, damaging effects of the sun. When it comes to the basics, be sure to cleanse morning and night, exfoliate twice a week to remove dead skin cells, and always wear sunscreen. Then get to work boosting moisture levels and fighting free radicals by adding a hyaluronic acid and vitamin C serum to your daily beauty regime. We also recommend weekly at-home pampering sessions using our HYDRATE hydrogel face mask and REJUVENATE cooling eye mask to boost hydration and vitality while warding off fine lines and wrinkles.
While you’re indulging in a little at-home pampering session, don’t forget your body. To improve skin tone and elasticity, aid the detoxification process, and boost circulation, try a dry brushing session. Start at the tops of your feet and brush upward in circular motions toward the heart. Next, draw a bath, light a candle, and relax for 20 minutes to lower stress levels. Add a muscle-soothing soak or Epsom salts to the water to relieve tension or tightness from sitting at a desk or on the couch all day. Cleo’s therapeutic COMFORT heat patch is also great to relieve cramps and muscle aches (when you’re not soaking in the tub, of course). When you’re done, exfoliate your body with a hydrating oil-based scrub and then seal in all your hard work with a moisture-rich body cream.
Hair game strong
Summer calls for easy, effortless, hassle-free hairstyles, so here’s how to master the classic, always chic top knot.
- Comb your hair back away from your face and pull it into a high ponytail near the top of your head.
- Divide the ponytail into two equal sections. (If your hair needs taming, add mousse or styling cream.)
- Take one section in each hand and twist them together all the way down to make them one piece.
- Take your twisted hair and wrap it in a clockwise direction around the hair tie.
- Finish by pinning the top knot in place at the top and bottom.
- Spritz with hairspray for extra hold.
Happy Summer to our Cleo Community. Here’s to staying strong inside and out.
